Shooters World SBR Socom Smokeless Powder
Shooters World SBR Socom Powder Overview
The Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoors Section of SBR There is no suitable substitute for Shooters World SBR Socom D063-01 Smokeless Gun Powder while reloading. Compared to ACCURATE 1680, it burns more quickly, while compared to Winchester 296 and Hodgdon H110, it burns more slowly. When a quick transition from powder to gas is desirable, cartridges like the .300 Blackout, 7.62×39, and straight-walled .458 SOCOM work well because of the propellant gas production rate.
The .300 Blackout can use SOCOM effectively as a single propellant for both subsonic and supersonic velocities. In subsonic applications, it has less residue than 1680, whereas in supersonic ones, it performs better than 296. When loaded with a subsonic load of 220 grains of Sierra Match King, it performs admirably. But, it truly comes into its own when paired with a hunting or FMJ bullet of 150 grains.
By using Shooters World SBR SOCOM, a .300 Blackout with a 150-grain bullet may approach the velocity of a .30-30 Winchester with the same barrel length, however other propellants leave the .300 Blackout with a 150-grain bullet weak at best. When fired from a 16-inch barrel at a muzzle velocity of 2150 feet per second, a bullet weighing 150 grains packs a surprising amount of punch.
The density and burn rate of this propellant suggest it will work well with the bigger magnum pistols. SOCOM’s gas production rate meets the demands of the expansion ratios of these huge magnum pistol bores and bullet sectional densities, but “1680” is a touch too sluggish for these cartridges. At about 0.99 g/cc, SOCOM is rather lightweight. It’s designed to reduce the effects of flash photography. As it is spherical in shape, it may be used on a progressive loader with the confidence that each powder drop will be the same. This propellant is designated as D063.1 by Lovex.
The reliability of Shooters World propellants has been proven over many years. In 1920, the company that would become Shooter’s World began producing propellants. The Lovex name is widely used to market these propellants across Europe.
